PELICAN IS THE ONLY NOTRH AMERICAN KAYAK MANUFACTURER TO USE THE
TST TECHNOLOGY |
| |
For forthy years, Pelican has been perfecting the art of Twin Sheet Thermoforming (TST),
which precisely shapes the decks ans hulls and fuses them together under extreme heat
and pressure. This technology also provides us the opportunity to produce two tone coloured kayaks, similar in appearance to composite kayaks but at the prices of plastic boats.
Today, Pelican has become one of the three largest kayak companies in the world. It benefits from a 300 000 square foot state of the art facility, several assembly lines, and its new thermoforming machine - the largest in the world - is capable of producing boats up to 18 feet [5.4 m]. Since our products are designed to help people get the most from the outdoors, we are good stewards of the environment. We recycle 99.5% of the excess material in our manufacturing process to make new products. |

HERE IS HOW WE TWIN SHEET THERMOFORM AN ELITE SERIES KAYAK |
| |
Step 1 - We heat two large sheets of polyethylene |
| |
| |
| |
Step 2 -They are draped over molds for the deck and hull |
| |
| |
| |
Step 3 -The two pieces, while still hot, are pressed together under extreme pressure |
| |
| |
| |
Step 4 -Excess material is then trimmed and outfitting installed |

Merge our TST technology and our exclusive materials to get
an ultra resistant boat |
| |
| |
Using the TST technology allows us to mold our exclusive Poly-XR™ material into durable and ultra resistant Elite Series kayaks. It increases the kayak's rigidity by 30% over standard polyethylene kayaks and enables it to regain its original shape after severe impacts. |

WE PERFORMED THE FOLLOWING TEST IN ORDER TO DEMONSTRATE THE TOUGHNESS OF OUR KAYAKS |
| |
| |
The deck and hull are fused together as if they were created as a single piece, the seam requires no glue or solvents. |

Because the deck and hull are fused together, our kayaks are more durable than others. Thanks to our Poly-XR™ material that enables the kayak to regain its shape after such an unikely event. If our boats can stand this test, they surely can handle anything you may experience on the water. *Don't try this at home. |
